Nick Brown BA (Hons) Dip Arch : Director

Nick trained at the Leeds School of Architecture and worked with Carey Jones (now CJCT) and Aedas prior to setting up in practice in 2003. Having worked in partnership for many years, Nick acquired overall control of the business in January 2013. Nick oversees all design work and ensures that equal passion is given to every project in the studio. The early stages of a project are vital for its ultimate success and, alongside the extensive site investigation process, Nick will ensure that there is a detailed understanding of the Client’s vision and constraints for the project before any design work starts.

Nick is currently leading the design process on projects such as Ironworks (for igloo), Richardsons and Low Fold (for CITU), Calls Wharf (for CDP) and Meanwood WMC (for Hillcrest & Louis). He is also enjoying working with private clients on projects such as the Austhorpe Hall gallery, and the rewarding work carried out with the Harewood Estate.

Nick has lectured on the work of the practice, and was a visiting Tutor at Leeds School of Architecture for over 10 years.

Nick enjoys creating, and maintaining, strong working relationships with clients and other key stakeholders in the design and development processes. His passion for problem solving and creating strong architectural responses to the challenges of context, site, function and viability, is matched by his determination to see the design solutions delivered on site.

An eternal optimist, Nick follows the fortunes of Liverpool FC. He has also (occasionally) been seen cycling the picturesque countryside north of Leeds.
