Palmers Garden Centre

Creating Places, Leisure & Arts, Places of Work

Working closely alongside the clients Palmers Plants & Palmers Landscapes, Nick Brown Architects were appointed to develop proposals for a new garden centre building and the larger redevelopment of the existing garden centre facilities.

Incorporated in 1982, Palmer Nurseries began life as a small nursery in Farsley, growing plants for their sister company, Palmer Landscapes, as well as other landscapers and trade customers in the area.

The proposals included the creation of a brand new mixed used garden centre building, which would provide a cafe, retail space and office space.

Responding to the rural nature of the site and the nature of the business Nick Brown Architects adopted a simple approach to the design of the new garden centre with both the form and materials influenced by the archetypal agricultural building.
